one of my favorite things about visiting kauai is the pace of life. we slow down. time slows down. life slows down. and it’s soo good. this lucky little lady has been to kauai every year of her life (oh to be her!) and every year it gets more and more fun! it truly feels like just yesterday i was hanging in the car with a 3-month old who seemed to nurse non-stop while i watched humpbacks spouting in the distance. her second trip she refused to put her feet in the sand for the first few days so it was pretty funny watching her try to navigate the beach. last year she embraced each adventure with gusto and i recall her constantly trying to hold the chickens that are everywhere on the island.
this year we really embraced playing. we played in the pool and played at the beach, and occasionally we took a little car snooze on our way from one beach to another. the beach in these photos is particularly special because it was right out the door of our condo which happens to be the same condo that my husband’s grandma has been coming to for over 40 years. for many years it was her special place with her husband before he passed, and it continues to be a place of fond memories and family time for our dear 95 year old grandma/great-grandma. the memories may fade but these photos will serve to remind us of what the sun feels like on island time.
