FAQ

What is the booking process like?

I recommend clients book at least one month in advance. My busiest months are August - October and those months fill up even faster. We will pick a date and then confirm that date as we get closer to make sure weather is cooperative.

Payment is due on the date of your session.

What is the ideal time for photos?

As a natural light photographer, I generally photograph portrait sessions in the last 2 hours before sunset. Depending on cloud coverage and time of year, this can vary.

What should we wear?

This can be one of the more challenging parts of the planning process but I'm here to help you! Depending on your session type, season, and location, I will send you links to style guides that will help inspire you to find the right look for your photos!

How do we pick a location?

Depending on your preference for setting, I have a variety of locations I use in the Skagit/Whatcom areas. Places that I recommend for sessions are based on my familiarity with the lighting, how busy a location might be, and how it photographs. The right lighting really takes the photographs to the next level, so it's really important we get the location right!

What is a print release?

I put the power to use and share the images in my client's hands. That means that you will download your images and can then proceed to order prints yourself and share the photos on social media. This allows you to use your images to make gifts for the holidays, order custom cards, and even get your photos on a mug if you want!

What kind of gear do you use?

My primary camera body is a Canon R5 and my second body is a Canon 5D Mark IV. My go-to lenses for portrait sessions are the Canon 35mm 1.4L and 50mm 1.2L lenses. When I'm out shooting wildlife, I rotate between my 500mm f4L and 100-400mm 4.5L II.

My overall preference for lenses are what are called "prime" lenses. These are a fixed length, which means I don't physically zoom in and out on the lens. The advantage to this is that these are fast, sharp lenses that create that beautiful bokeh that prime lenses are known for! I am such a gear nerd....I could go on and on about it!
